Here you’ll find almost any topic from traveling, to things I didn’t learn in college, to my favorite books and rants about my favorite movies, and everything in between. I don’t want to limit myself to one category. All I know is that I want to write and I hope you’ll follow along with me and read these words as I continue to navigate through my life.
Welcome. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at blogging, but I just never found the energy or motivation to follow through and really commit to it. I’ve managed to keep a journal since about 5th grade, but once I started high school, my willingness to sit down and write quickly decreased because I could never find time to write what I really wanted to. The idea of blogging started in middle school when I was assigned to write book reviews for my writing class. I thought it was pretty fun, but I couldn’t stick to it because I didn’t think I read enough books (you’d definitely disagree with my assessment if you check my bookcase…). From books I moved on to crafting and then to odd shower thoughts. My google drive is filled with half-written, unpublished blog posts that never really felt worthy enough for anyone else’s eyes but mine.
Along came college and I wanted to document my time in undergrad as I maneuvered my way through the confusion that is your 20s. My interest in blogging was reignited during my last year of undergrad when a guest speaker came into my advertising class. She told us that no matter what career we end up with, no matter what industry we find ourselves in, no matter what life stage we might be in, a personal blog would always be there for you. I was like, wow she’s right. But again, what would I write about? It wasn’t until this past year when I took a course called Social Media in which I really had to start blogging. After all, it was a group project. We were assigned to pick any topic and to consistently publish blog posts for the 10 weeks of our winter quarter. My friends and I chose traveling, because who doesn’t love traveling??? This gave me some real-life experience with the concept of blogging. We had to keep thinking of new things to write about, come up with pictures, and just the effort put into consistently blogging was overwhelming. But I loved it. So after all of that… I’ve finally made it to my very own personal blog.
